babysteps is an app built in the Netherlands that allows parents to capture the early years of their child, share them privately with loved ones and relive them through a personal timeline or printed photo books. We securely store your stories, photos, and videos in the European Union. We use trusted infrastructure providers to ensure reliability and security. The app is free to use, without subscriptions and contains no advertisements.
Definitions and applicability
babysteps (“we”, “us”) provides, through its mobile app and website (the “Service”), a private environment in which parents can capture stories, photos, videos and milestones of their child, share them with invited family and friends, and create photo books.
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to all users (“User(s)”) and readers (“Reader(s)”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. We may update these Terms and will notify you via the app or email. Continued use of the Service implies acceptance.
Users must be of legal age or have permission from a legal guardian. The Service is intended for parents for private use of child-related content. Content involving minors requires appropriate parental consent.
Account and registration
Registration requires accurate personal information, including email and password. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for all activity under your account. Please report any suspected unauthorized access to info@babysteps-app.com.
We reserve the right to refuse, suspend or terminate accounts in case of violations of these Terms.
Multiple caregivers can contribute to a child profile. Followers can only access content through invitation and cannot discover profiles via public search.
User content and licenses
You retain ownership of your content, including stories, photos, videos and milestones.
By uploading content, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free and sublicensable license to store, display and distribute your content within the Service and to use it for creating photo books. This is limited to servers within the European Union.
We do not pre-screen content but may remove content that violates these Terms. You can request an export of your content via support.
You confirm that you have the necessary rights to your content and that it does not infringe on the rights of others, including copyright, portrait rights or privacy rights.
The following is not allowed:
Illegal, harmful or discriminatory content
Commercial or promotional content without permission
Content containing malware
You agree to indemnify us against any claims resulting from your content.
Services and functionalities
The Service includes free capturing and private sharing of moments. Photo books are optional paid products. There are no subscriptions and no advertisements.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the Service and may modify or discontinue features. You are responsible for your own internet and device costs.
Followers may see combined feeds from multiple children. You control who can see each moment.
Acceptable use
When using babysteps, you agree not to:
Upload content that is illegal, offensive, threatening, discriminatory or otherwise unlawful
Share photos or information of children without explicit consent from all parents or legal guardians
Use the Service for commercial purposes, advertising or spam without our written consent
Attempt to bypass security, disrupt the Service or violate the privacy of other users
Content moderation and reporting
To maintain a safe environment:
Users can report inappropriate content or users through the reporting function
Reported content is reviewed within 24 hours
Violations may result in removal of content or users
Repeated violations may lead to suspension or termination
Misuse of reporting tools may result in action. We reserve the right to remove content without prior notice.
Photo books and payments
Photo books are created by parents using their own content and produced on demand via EU-based third-party print partners under our instruction.
An agreement is formed upon order confirmation. Personalized products cannot be cancelled or returned.
Prices include VAT. Payments can be made via iDEAL, credit card or other available methods. We may refuse orders in case of errors or violations.
Complaints must be submitted within 7 days with photos for refund or reprint. We are not liable for color deviations or user errors.
Delays caused by force majeure, such as strikes or natural disasters, are beyond our control.
Privacy and security
We design the Service based on the principles of privacy by default and minimal data collection.
We securely store your stories, photos, and videos in the European Union and design the app with privacy as the default. There are no public profiles. Followers only gain access through invitation, and users control access at all times.

Deleted content is permanently removed within 30 days, except for backups.
Intellectual property
All rights to the app and Service belong to us. Users may not reverse engineer or commercially exploit the Service.
Termination and data retention
You can delete your account via the app. We may terminate accounts in case of misuse without refund.
After termination, your content will be deleted within 30 days.
We may retain certain data, such as payment or administrative records, for legal or fraud prevention purposes where necessary.
Liability and warranties
The Service is provided as is. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation.
babysteps is not responsible for user content. Liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law. We are not liable for indirect damages, loss of profit or data loss.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Dutch law. Any disputes will be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands.
Changes
We may update these Terms via the app or email. Continued use implies acceptance.
